Not quite sure how to improve your morning routine? Here are some effective tips for making your morning more organized and efficient — and building a better day from the start!

1. Take care of you first

Ever had one of those mornings when you realize it’s noon and you haven’t brushed your teeth or finished your first cup of coffee? Stay focused in the morning by creating a self-care bin. Include all of your favorite products and commit to setting aside 30 minutes each morning to prepare for your day, before the hustle and bustle starts.

2. Don’t skip breakfast

We’ve all heard it before, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When you plan out your morning meals, you set yourself up for success. Stay focused on healthy, nutritious foods that will keep you and your family energized until lunch time.

3. Create efficiencies

Have to make multiple lunches for your kids this morning? Make it easy on yourself and set up a lunch making work station. Think assembly line; this will ensure each family member gets the right portions and isn’t missing anything, and it goes a lot faster than individually preparing each meal.

4. Create designated spaces for each family member’s daily things

One great place, whether in a brand new home or not, to store such things is the mudroom or owner’s entrance off the garage. Create a bin or basket system, with labels, to keep clutter under control.

5. Set yourself up for success the night before

This can mean a lot of things; prepare lunches ahead of time if you have a spare 30 minutes. Set out clothes for the next morning, and pack bags or backpacks in the evening. Run the dishwasher and tidy up the house so you wake up to an organized space. Or, our favorite, set the timer on your coffee pot so there’s a fresh cup waiting for you when you rise.

6. Consider an earlier wake-up time to create a buffer

No one likes to wake up earlier than they have to, but setting your clock just 10 or 15 minutes earlier won’t feel too different, and those extra minutes can go a long way when you’re flying at the speed of light.
