Comprehensive Logistics Co. will open a new facility in Spring Hill to house manufacturing and automotive components for General Motors, company and state officials said Wednesday.
Comprehensive Logistics, an Ohio-based logistics firm, is investing $30 million to build the automotive support facility and plans to
create 200 jobs.
The new facility will support General Motors’ manufacturing operations in Spring Hill. GM announced in August production of a new SUV at the Spring Hill plant, which currently makes the Chevrolet Equinox.
“This contract award demonstrates Comprehensive Logistics’ history of successfully providing a complete logistics and value-added warehouse solution and exemplifies our expertise in helping General Motors to meet growing consumer demand for their vehicles,” Brad Constantini, executive vice president and principal of Comprehensive Logistics Co., said in a news release. “We are excited to open our first operation in Tennessee and become a part of the Spring Hill community.”
As part of the project, Comprehensive Logistics will build a new Class A industrial building at 715 Beechcroft Road in Spring Hill on 13 acres. The facility is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2015, according to a news release.
“Comprehensive Logistics’ decision to locate a new facility in Spring Hill is another example of the excellent logistics infrastructure and business-friendly environment our state offers to companies around the world,” Gov. Bill Haslam said in the release.
Comprehensive Logistics will also provide parts sequencing and assembly services at the new facility.
New investment in Maury County tied the Spring Hill plant has been picking up recently. Earlier this month, Magna International said it is investing $16 million for a new Spring Hill facility to produce seat assemblies for the GM plant. That investment is expected to create 357 new jobs in the next two years.
Meanwhile, GM said in August it is investing $185 million to build new small gasoline engines at the Spring Hill plant (the company announced last year plans to invest $350 million to prepare for future production of two future mid-sized vehicles in Spring Hill).
Comprehensive Logistics manages 19 facilities in the United State and Canada.
